Improve terminology in the sector of seed breeding

A professional language should be built on the basis of a close connection and logical substantiation of the most important units of speech: concept - term - definition. It can be taken as a rule: all analyzed categories - concepts, terms, definitions and names, should be built on the basis of three most important principles: 1) express the essence of a specific phenomenon, 2) have the correct logical structure and 3) lexicological consistency. There are significant gaps in the terminology of the seed growing industry. In the literature, state standards for seeds and in official documents, there are frequent cases of free use of terms, without a proper logical and lexicological justification. According to the statement of K. Marx: "With terminological confusion, nonsense is inevitable." The terminology used in state standard R 52325 and in the edition of the draft Federal Law "On Seed Growing" (February 2021) is not without such an error. We consider it necessary to analyze the vocabulary of these documents from the point of view of analytical philosophy, logic and lexicology and make the necessary amendments. The correct structure and interpretation of the concepts of terms and definitions for seed production is a methodological basis for the study of theoretical problems and a starting point for solving many practical problems of the industry.
