Certain features of winter soft wheat varieties and their role in productivity development

The paper presents the results of our own research on examining 10 varieties of winter soft wheat of P. P. Lukyanenko KNIISKH selection (Adel, Bagrat, Kurs, Mordko, Tanya, Antonina, Tabor, Laureat, Dolya, Grom). The varieties have been grown for two years on the background of soil fertility. Their characteristics according to the two upper leaves area and leaf area index, resistance to fungal diseases, productivity and grain bakery qualities are presented in the paper. With the use of the correlation and determination coefficients it was proved that the productivity of an ear, depending on its variety, substantially depends on its length, the number of grains or their size and the number of spikes in the ear. The leaders of productivity were the varieties Dolya, Grom and Tanya (79,3; 78,3; 77,7 respectively). However their high productivity and high level index of bakery qualities don’t coincide. On average in all varieties the productivity is positively associated with the density of productive stalks, flag leaf area index and grain weight per spike.
