Comparative evaluation of Raspberry varieties for the suitability of growing in the foothill zone of the North Caucasus

The demand for raspberry products in the North Caucasus region for fresh consumption and the canning industry is high. For today, the need for planting crop material in the south of Russia has increased significantly, especially from small-scale peasant and farm farms. But at the same time, its industrial plantings, in particular, in the Krasnodar Territory, are not enough. The main difficulty in increasing raspberry production is the lack of varieties that fully meet the climatic conditions of the south of Russia, and therefore from 2015 to 2021. work was carried out to study the economic and biological characteristics of its various varieties collected in the collection of plant resources of VIR in order to identify the most promising for further production testing in the foothill zone of horticulture of the North Caucasus of the Russian Federation. The objects of research were seven varieties of summer raspberries of domestic and foreign selection, selected in the collection plantations of the Krymsk EBS, VIR Branch, in the primary variety study as promising. In field trials, the potential for productivity and commercial qualities of the fruits of the raspberry varieties taken for the experiment were evaluated. Based on a three-year study of summer raspberries, Glen Ample, Bojarynja, Peresvet varieties were identified and recommended for the subsequent introduction into production of the foothill zone of the North Caucasus region of the Russian Federation.
