Assessment of toxicological properties of microbial feed additive for pig breeding

The article presents the results of research work on the laboratory study of acute and chronic toxicity, as well as the irritating properties of the synbiotic feed additive "LactoPig", the active principle of which is a consortium of two species of autochthonous representatives of the natural microbiocenosis of the intestines of pigs raised with intensive maintenance technology - Lactobacillus amylovorus (registration number BKM B-3750D) and Limosilactobacillus mucosae (registration number BKM B-3751D). To achieve the required number of microorganisms in the composition of "LactoPig", a natural composition of fillers of plant origin is used. The objects for testing potentially toxicological effects were male and female Wistar rats, who were injected with the test additive according to regulatory and recommended documentation, as well as white mongrel rabbits for staging dermonecrotic and conjunctival tests. When various doses of LactoPig were administered intragastrically to rats during the study of acute and chronic toxicity, as well as by skin instillation and conjunctival testing on rabbits, there were no signs of intoxication and dermography at the sites of application of the studied synbiotic. Therefore, a synbiotic feed additive based on Lactobacillus amylovorus and Limosilactobacillus mucosae in combination with natural fillers is safe and can be used in the diet of target animals.
