Diversification of the rural economy: institutional opportunities and prerequisites

The article is devoted to the institutional factors analysis in the development of the rural economy diversification. Currently, non-agricultural (alternative) activities in rural areas are underpresented. Trends in the development of alternative industries in agricultural enterprises are negative. At the same time, rural areas have significant resource potential for the diversification development. There is a significant unused reserve of labor force, agricultural land. The institutional environment is not fully conducive to the alternative industries creation. The purpose of the study is to identify institutional opportunities and prerequisites for the diversification of the rural economy aimed at enhancing the rural area development.
