Durum seed market in the European countries

The materials of IGS, COCERAL, FAO, SIS, etc. were analyzed with methods of economic-statistical, abstract-logical, and expert assessments and other sources for the development of the durum wheat market in European countries. Up to 90% of the acreage (2.3 million hectares) and gross yields (7.7 million tons) of durum wheat of the EU27 are concentrated in four countries - Italy, France, Greece, and Spain. The rapid increase in prices for input (fertilizers, chemical fertilizers, energy carriers) is able to reduce the gross harvest of crops by 5-10%. In the EU durum wheat seed market, estimated at 160 million euros, the leaders are French Limagrain, RAGT, Italian SIS, Proseme, Chinese Syngenta group. The situation on the EU durum wheat market remains quite tense, final stocks remain quite low, which is due to the historically low harvest in North America in the 2021/2022 season and, as a result, a drop in exports to EU countries.
