Phenological development features of some ornamental introduced species in the Southern coast of the Crimea

There has been made the comparative estimation of seasonal shoot’s growth of ornamental evergreen introduced species Laurus nobilis L., Prunus laurocerasus L., Viburnum tinus L., Aucuba japonica Thunb. and Nerium oleander L. in the Southern coast of the Crimea. The relating to species features of the rhythms shoots growth depending on the thermal regime and humidification conditions are revealed. Sum of active air temperatures above 5оС on the onset of key phases of shoot’s growth species have been analyzed. There have been identified groups on the onset of shoot’s growth and indicated the duration of these phenophases in the Southern coast of Crimea conditions. It has been found that shoot’s regrowth in spring after winter dormancy of Viburnum tinus and Aucuba japonica began with accumulation 459-462оС, Prunus laurocerasus - 649оС, Laurus nobilis - 886оС and Nerium oleander - 990оС sums of active air temperatures above 5оС. Shoot’s growing processes stopped in Aucuba japonica in June, Laurus nobilis in July, Nerium oleander, Prunus laurocerasus in September, and Viburnum tinus in October. It has been established that Laurus nobilis and Nerium oleander in the Southern coast of the Crimea are characterized by one peak of shoot growth, Viburnum tinus and Aucuba japonica - two, and Prunus laurocerasus - three. Based on the comparative assessment of the reaction of the studied exotic species to weather conditions in climatic periods differing in the level of heat availability, specific features of phenorhythmic plasticity due to different plant species reactions to an increase in intra-seasonal temperatures have been identified.
