Phytopathological assessment of new potato varieties for the main fungal and viral diseases in the conditions of the North Caucasus Region

In the Republic of North Ossetia, the average potato yield is 25-28 kg/ha, which is largely due to the defeat of potatoes by fungal and viral diseases. To solve the problem of elite seed production, the optimal solution remains the breeding of resistant varieties to various phytopathogens. The process of creating such varieties is very long and time-consuming. The key to success is the selection of the right source material. The article reflects the results of the prevalence of potato varieties distinguished by productivity to the main fungal and viral diseases on the territory of the republic. A valuable, phytopathogen-free source material was identified for further breeding work to create disease-resistant potato varieties.
Keywords: Potato, phytopathogens, selection, source material.
