Comparative analysis of grain production productivity in the European and Asian parts of Russia

The country's food security, food security of the population and its standard of living, the financial condition of agricultural producers largely depend on the increase in the productivity of grain production. The paper presents the results of the analysis of the country's grain production productivity based on such indicators as acreage, gross harvest, yield of grain and leguminous crops in the context of comparing data from the European and Asian parts of Russia. At the same time, the sustainable development of the grain complex in Russia is impossible without understanding the global and grain production trends, as well as assessing the ongoing structural shifts within the country. Development planning of the grain sub-sector in Russia should be coupled with stable trends in global grain production, rely on supply and demand factors in the grain market, and take into account the dynamics of territorial and sectorial changes. This study is devoted to assessing the prospects of Russian grain production in the context of ongoing global changes. According to the FAO experts estimates, according to the scenario of changes development in agricultural production in 2050, due to the effects of climate warming, the geography of grain production around the world will have to be redistributed. The processes of redistribution of territories for the production of grain crops will also affect Russia. It is important to learn how to model these processes for the Russian Federation, which has vast territories with different climatic latitudes of the European and Asian parts inherent in it. This problem of climate change is serious for Russia, which already affects the productivity of grain production. All analyzed time series of indicators of grain production productivity are volatile.
Keywords: Productivity of grain production, productivity indicators, grain-producing territories, yielding capacity, gross harvest, acreage.
