Maintaining the optimal hydrochemical regime in reservoirs for aquaculture

The subject of the study was the fish-breeding reservoirs of the "Albashi" LLC enterprise of the Leningradsky region of the Krasnodar Territory, the hydrochemical indicators of water and the chemical composition of bottom sediments. The objective of the study was to determine the ecological significance of the presence of forest shelterbelts in pastoral aquaculture. When setting up the experiment, two reservoirs were used, reservoir No. 1 - with protective afforestation and a reed ring; reservoir No. 2 - without shelter belts and a reed ring. Bottom sediments in both studied water bodies did not exceed the safety standards, in particular, the content of HCCH (ɑ-, β-, γ-isomers), 2,4-D acids, its salt, esters, as well as DDT and its metabolites. Some samples were taken during strong winds with gusts up to 25 m/s, and then, samples were taken after the end of the windy weather. After analyzing the water sample data, we can draw the following conclusions: after a strong wind and heavy rainfall, the hydrochemistry of water in a reservoir without protective afforestation and a reed ring has changed in the direction of increasing the pH from 7.2 to 7.3 units. pH, BOD - 5 from 1.3 to 1.6 mg(O2)/dm3, suspended solids from 8.2 to 9.0 mg/dm3; bottom sediment indicators remained unchanged. A significant decrease in the content of heavy metals and cases of fish disease with saprolegniosis was found in a reservoir with forest plantations and a reed ring. Therefore, it is concluded that reeds and forest shelterbelts restrain the meteorological and hydrological factors of washouts from the soil and deposition of suspensions during dust storms.
