Interspecific potato hybrids evaluation for resistance to the most dangerous pathogens and their productive qualities implementation in conditions of the North-Western region of the RF

In the conditions of the North-West of the Russian Federation, which are distinguished by a complex phytosanitary situation, late blight, rhizoctoniosis and bacterial rot are widespread in potato plantings. An effective and economically safe way of protecting against fungal and bacterial diseases is the selection and cultivation of varieties resistant to various pathogens with a high productivity potential in the early stages of harvesting and in the main one. In the course of the research, the assessment of potato breeding material for resistance to late blight, rhizoctonia and bacterial rot of tubers was carried out. The foliage and tubers were highly resistant to late blight: 211/1 (Charodey ½ 943/9), 814/2 (Yanka ½ 4602/9), 2103/7 (190-4 ½ Marta), 113/3 (Luck ½ Baltic). Relatively less susceptible to rhizoctonia were 211/1 (7.3 points), 2303/13 (7.8 points), 814/2 (7.8 points), 113/3 (7.3 points). Bacterial rot was not detected during the study years on tubers in samples 814/2, 2103/7, a single lesion was noted in hybrids 211/1, 2303/13, 113/3. The created original breeding material in the soil and climatic conditions of the North-West region of the Russian Federation had high productivity both in the early stages of harvesting, and in the main one. On average, for 2017-2020, the productivity of marketable tubers in the early harvesting period was at the level of 12.8-17.3 t / ha, in the main 31.7-38.4 t / ha. In terms of the aggregate of economically valuable traits, 211/1, 1604/4, 2303/13, 814/2 and 113/3 turned out to be promising, which will be used in further breeding work. The hybrid 2303/13 (grade Polyarny) in 2020 was submitted for State testing in the Northern region of the Russian Federation.
