Comparative evaluation of oats varieties of Far Eastern selection with foreign examples

The purpose of the research is to assess the competitiveness of varieties of spring oats of far Eastern selection in comparison with non-regional varieties. The research was conducted in 2017-2019 at the experimental field of FEARI (Russia, Far East, Khabarovsk region). The soil of the crop rotation is brown-podzolic. The plot area is 4,0 m2, the repeatability is 3,0 times. The growing season of the varieties varied from 68 to 94 days. The earliest-maturing varieties were Zapavet, Freestyle, Fax from Belarus and UPF 79B3 (Brazil), the phase of broom sweeping came 11 days earlier than the standard Express variety. The highest grain productivity was observed in the varieties Tigrovy, Premier, Marshal (FEARI), Tarskiy 2 (Russia). Varieties of the Belarusian selection Yubilyar, Bug, Korolek, Lydia have formed a yield at the standard level, but with the deterioration of environmental conditions, the implementation of their yield decreases by 30,5-35,7%. Malin (Germany), Dominik (Germany) and Circle (Sweden) cultivars showed high resistance to lodging (7,0-9,0 points). The results of a comprehensive assessment and calculation of competitiveness indicate that the most adapted to the conditions of the region are varieties of far Eastern selection - Express, Tigrovy, Premier, Marshal. Samples with lower competitiveness - Yubilyar, Bug, Strelec, Lydia, Korolek, Polonaise, Freestyle from Belarus and varieties Spurt and Saron from Ukraine, Malin (Germany), Dominik (Germany) and Circle (Sweden) are recommended in further breeding work to improve the adaptability and environmental sustainability of the new breeding material.
