Evaluation of the hybrid material of potatoes by the productivity, of its elements, precocity

New potato varieties are the most important factor in increasing yield and product quality. The natural and climatic conditions of the North-West of the Russian Federation, which differ in a short growing season and almost annual epiphytotic development of late blight, require the creation of early ripening highly productive varieties of potatoes. In the Leningrad Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture "Belogorka" - a branch of the Federal State Budget Scientific Institution "Potato named after A.G. Lorha" comprehensive studies are carried out to study potatoes, the main of which are yield, early maturity, and disease resistance. The article presents the results of a three-year study of the productivity and early maturity of interspecific potato hybrids obtained by traditional selection. Promising varieties of potato were selected that significantly exceeded the standard in productivity: 211/1, 1604/4, 814/2. These interspecific hybrids are distinguished by good tuber shape, superficial eyes, aligned nests and tubers in the nest. Assessment of selections material by early maturity and productivity in early harvesting was carried out. High rates of the studied traits in individual genotypes were established on the 60th day after planting (211/1, 211/9, 1011/2). Promising early ripening hybrids were selected that form a harvest of marketable tubers in the early harvesting period at the level of 160-170 с/ha, which can subsequently be transferred at the State test.
