New tobacco varieties creation based on the mobilization of the Nicotiana genus genetic potential

The aim of the research is creation of new selection material which is resistant to unfavorable conditions and limiting factors of the environment. This material can be used for creation new sorts adapted to new conditions of modern agriculture. For this purpose more intense utilizing the genetic potential of Nicotiana family in the selection process should be applied. During the research complex evaluation of sorts of the world’s collection with short period from transplanting to blossom, with intense growing rate, of high productivity, of mid-ripening type with large leaves, resistant to basic diseases (seedling decays, downy mildew, tobacco mosaic, stolbur) was carried out. As the result of monitoring, 298 perspective sorts for basic agriculturally valuable properties were determined. Among them: 55 donor sorts for selection of early and mid-ripening types; 53 donor sorts for multifoliate type; 49 donor sorts for large leaf type; 22 donor sorts for high productivity; 53 donor sorts for leaf color; 66 donor sorts with optimal technological properties. Selected donor sorts were the source of agriculturally valuable properties. They were included into hybridization process for creation new sorts with perspective genotypes. Donor sorts of valuable properties were utilized in hybridization process for creation initial selection material which combines all necessary features and properties in one genotype. On the base of utilizing gene pool of tobacco world’s collection new perspective initial material has been created. It is characterized by early and mid-ripening type of developing, high productivity, resistance to diseases and negative factors of the environment, corresponding to modern demands of agriculture.
