Minimization of import dependence of agricultural products as a factor of ensuring food security in Russia

The main socio-economic criterion characterizing the standard of living and the economic potential of both the whole country and its individual regions is to provide the population with necessary food products. Food security is becoming one of the main activities of the state in the context of economic sanctions that have been introduced against Russia by Western countries. And the import substitution policy pursued by Russia at present is one of the most important guidelines for ensuring food independence throughout the country. The Krasnodar Territory is considered one of the leading and most developed regions of the country, which has quite significant potential and ample opportunities. The article analyzes the level of food security in the Krasnodar Territory in comparison with the indicator for Russia, and also considers the definition of "import substitution" as the main financial benchmark of Russia at present. The dynamics of import of commodity resources of the Krasnodar Territory is assessed, the importance of agricultural development in order to ensure food security is analyzed.
