Control of fetal development in female black sea bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus ponticus Barabash, 1940) in the first half of pregnancy

More and more often there is a need to use more accurate methods of pregnancy diagnosis in mammalian females. Certain difficulties are the diagnosis of pregnancy and determining the timing of pregnancy in female dolphins. Different methods of pregnancy determination were compared taking into account anatomical and physiological characteristics of female dolphins. The diagnosis of pregnancy in bottlenose dolphins, taking into account the level of plasma progesterone, was less reliable, since cases of pseudo-pregnancy are recorded. Sonographic studies of the Black Sea bottlenose dolphins were also quite controversial. While the method of ultrasound diagnosis makes it possible not only to determine pregnancy in the Black sea bottlenose dolphins, but also allows you to study the dynamics of the linear parameters of the fetus depending on the timing of pregnancy.
