Formation of jujube adaptive assortment for Crimea conditions

Modern gardening supposes introduction of cultivars that mostly meet market demands, soil and climatic conditions of their growing.Jujube is the new fruit culture for Crimea with a lot of useful properties. The culture is tolerant to soils, frost-resistant, does not require regular chemical treatments. The jujube fruits are characterized by high content of biologically active substances. It are eaten fresh and preserved. In the last decade on the Southern coast of Crimea there has been a trend of increasing frequency and duration of dry periods. At a high temperature of air and moisture deficiency at a jujube observe premature yellowing of leaves and decrease a crop. The purpose of this work was a comparative study of the drought resistance and productivity of jujube cultivars and the possibility of growing these cultivars in the Crimea. The article covers study results of drought resistance and productivity of two jujube cultivars. The drought resistance determined according to the water-retaining ability and the turgor of leaf tissues after drying. It was revealed that the cultivars had a high ability to retain moisture and restore the turgor well after dehydration. The cultivars Tsukerkoviy and Ta-Yan-Tsao showed a high reparative capacity - from 65 to 85% after prolonged dehydration. A compassion of the potential and real productivity of cultivars shows that the number of generative buds and their preservation by the XII stage of organogenesis had the greatest influence on the yield.Tsukerkoviy is superior to Ta-Yan-Tsao in the preservation index of flowering buds. In the case of Tsukerkoviy it was 0,58 and 0,36 in Ta-Yan-Tsao it was 0,02.
