Theoretical and methodological justification of the periodization of ontogenesis and vegetation period of woody plants

Woody plants in different periods of ontogenesis form needles and leaves with different anatomical and morphological structure. The juvenile period of ontogenesis is divided into two phases - infant and virginal. The infant needles are arranged by one and spirally. In the virginal phase, the needles form bundles characteristic of an adult plant. In maple and ash in the infant phase, the leaves are whole, in the virginal phase, respectively, dissected and odd-pinnate. Isolation in the ontogeny of woody plants of two separate periods (juvenile and virginal) on the basis of the morphology of the leaves is considered by the authors to be unfounded. Established for most plant and animal organisms, four periods (embryonic, juvenile, generative, senile) differ in a complex set of genetic, cytological, physiological, biochemical, and anatomical-morphological features.
