New sources of economicaly valuable signs of spring wheat for breeding in the North-Western zone of the Russian Federation

The aim of thgis research is to select sources of economic and valuable features of spring wheat on the basis of the study of collection variety samples obtained from the All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources, to create a promising breeding material. Variety samples from the collection of the N.I. Vavilov All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources in the amount of 78 new varieties were studied in the field conditions of the Leningrad Research Institute of Agriculture "Belogorka". They were studied for three years (2015-2017) on the natural infectious background. As a result of field assessments and structural analysis of productivity, the sources of economically valuable features for selection purposes were identified. The creation of early spring wheat varieties for the North-Western region is an urgent task. 17 collection samples were allocated on precocity basis. An important feature is the presence of resistance to lodging. 58 collection samples showed resistance to lodging. 14 genotypes were identified according to a complex of traits (weight of grain per spike, with plants, with plots of the number of kernels in ear). The disadvantage of selected varieties is their tendency to be defeated by common diseases. In epiphitoties 2016 no consistent and subparagaph leaf and stem rust were revealed. The average incidence of brown rust had 14 varieties, of stem rust - 3 varieties. 5 collection samples resistant to powdery mildew (the degree of damage up to 5%) were found. All the studied varieties proved to be resistant to loose smut.
