Growing bulls of Aberdeen-Angus and Hereford breeds in the Кrasnodar Territory

The cattle breeders of the Krasnodar Territory face the task to develop the meat cattle breeding sector in a short time. This industry is being created by buying animals of imported meat breeds. Currently, by the number of beef cattle in the Krasnodar Territory the first place is occupied by the Aberdeen-Angus breed animals, there are 8,380 heads, the number of animals Hereford breed is 6,885. The aim of the research was to study the growth and development of Aberdeen-Angus and Hereford bulls in the Krasnodar Territory. In carrying out the research, conventional zootechnical methods and methodologies were used. For the experiment, calves from the cows of the winter-spring calving were selected. After birth and until the 8-month-old bulls were on the sap under their mothers. From May to September they were kept on natural pastures, then, until the age of 15 months, they were grown and fattened, using pasture fattening. Animals of the experimental groups reached a fairly high body weight (448.3-473.2 kg) by the age of 15 months. The established differences were in favor of the youngsters of the Hereford breed, they are due to the possibilities of realizing the genotype under specific conditions. Judging from the monthly weighing of the experimental animals, the intensity of their growth was not the same. The Hereford bulls possessed a higher energy of growth; good indicators were obtained with the cultivation and fattening of the Aberdeen-Angus peers. The growth intensity in the experimental animals for the entire period was not the same. When creating the beef cattle industry in the Krasnodar Territory, it is advisable to use the Hereford and Aberdeen-Angus breeds, which is a reserve for increasing the production of high-quality beef.
