Physiological aspects of Philadelphus L. (Hydrangeaceae) adaptation in Krasnodar

Philadelphus is one of the most decorative shrubs, which are of interest for use in landscape design. Nowadays the introduction of new plant species in the gardening into city landscaping is very important. The viability of introducents in new habitats depends on their successful adaptation to the natural and climatic conditions of the region of introduction. The article reviews physiological characteristics of the adaptive features of the decorative shrub - Philadelphus, Hydrangeaceae. The object of study is the collection of introduced representatives of the genus Philadelphus L. by Garden Center (NCRRIH&V). The features of shoot system formation of Philadelphus plants are described; the biomass and shoots’ dry weight and their growth rate are measured. We have studied the dynamics of the growth of the leaves in the studied plants; we determined the number and area of leaves. The research results of the dynamics of the photosynthetic pigment content in the leave apparatus of Philadelphus plants are represented. The pigment synthesis mostly depends on varietal and species features, natural coloring of leaves and growing season.
