Study of the basic elements of yield structure spring barley with the aim of creating a valuable source of breeding material

The main grain-bearing culture of the North-West region of Russia is spring barley. The goal of selection work on spring barley in the Leningrad State Scientific and Research Institute "Belogorka" is the creation of early-ripening productive varieties of spring barley of fodder direction, maximally adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of the region. The success of creating new varieties is largely predetermined by the source material. In 2015-2016 years. A complex evaluation of varieties of spring barley obtained from the collection of the Federal Research Center of the All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources was carried out. N.I. Vavilov. Field and laboratory evaluation of 17 new samples was carried out according to generally accepted methods. As a result of the studies, the best varieties were distinguished both for individual and for a set of economically valuable traits.
