Comprehensive analysis of production and processing high-oleic sunflower

The questions of the formation of the Russian market of sunflower which is the main oil-bearing crop are considered in the article. The growing demand for sunflower and products of its processing have formed the conditions for the development of the industry of production and processing of sunflower seeds on export and domestic markets. The production and processing of sunflower in the world, Russia and Krasnodar region were analyzed. There were presented the main Russian producers of sunflower oil, there was given the characteristics of their activity, results of work. The main importers of Russian packaged sunflower oil are neighboring countries. The main export-oriented regions are in the South of Russia. Every year breeders around the world are making tremendous efforts to create the new hybrids and varieties of sunflower, increasing the profitability of the culture and the intensification of production. The bulk of the world production of sunflower seeds accounts for a common sunflower of linoleic type. In recent years, in addition to traditional types of sunflower, in some countries the production of oil varieties with a high content of oleic acid is widespread. Also, an increase in the global consumption of high-oleic sunflower oil is observed. Production of high-oleic sunflower oil requires the cultivation of sunflower varieties characterizing by high content of oleic acid, high productivity and resistance to diseases and pests. The high-oleic sunflower is a great alternative to replace raw materials from olive oil with cheaper one - sunflower oil. One of the new tendencies in production of sunflower in Russia is high-oleic hybrids. Technologies of high-oleic sunflower cultivation practically do not differ from that used under the cultivation of traditional varieties. The cultivation of high-oleic sunflower varieties can be highly profitable for major agricultural organizations.
