Ggrowth promoters in cattle fattening

The use of growth promoters in animal husbandry is based on their ability to stimulate and limit the extent of individual physiological processes in animals, increase their growth and development. Various biologically active substances used as growth stimulants, when administered in the diets of animals allow for specific influence on metabolism, and thereby control the rate of growth and level of productivity. In the experiments on the stimulation of animal growth various drugs were tested: insulin, somatotropin, prolactin. The latter two drugs are also used as possible growth stimulants in milk production of cows. As inducers of endogenous growth hormone and insulin biogenic amines (calamin) and individual amino acids (arginine, lysine, leucin) are used. Implantation of 17-p-estradiol and estradiol benzoate to suckling calves, young cattle, especially steers-castruted and fattening cattle increased average daily gain from 6 to 17% and feed efficiency by 9%, increased protein content by 0,7% and reduced fat content in the carcass. The stimulatory effect of estrogens is associated with increased secretion of growth hormone in the pituitary gland. In many countries, wide use in animals fattening gained ralgro. Ralgro is the brand name of zeranol, which is a р-lactone of the resorcinol acid. Numerous experiments established that under the influence of single ralgro implantation average daily gain of the animals increased on average by 8-12%, and the efficiency of feed use - by 8-10%.
