Specifics of blossom and fruiting shown by peach hybrid forms developed in Nikita botanical gardens

Peach fruits are valuable foodstuf. Their flesh is very juicy, refreshing and easily digestible, has great taste and aroma. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption as well as for industrial processing. Potentially, the peach is a highly-efficient fruit crop, characterized by early and stable yelding. Such features as term, duration and intensity of blossom exercise an essential influence upon peach yeld. The developing of fruit buds depends in a greater degree on weather and cultivar features. During the years 2012 to 2015, the fruit plants scientific team of Nikita Botanical Garden in Yalta carried out the research on terms and duration of blossom as well as yeld by 39 hybrid peach forms developed in this organisation. This research aims to select late-flowering and high-yielding forms for their subsequent inclusion in hybridization and zonation. This allowed us to identify three early ripening hybrid high- and average-yelding forms with late blossom beginning (05-06.04): V ½ K 81-1008 (68,6 centners per hectare), V ½ FM 80-682 (81,5 centners per hectare), V ½ FM 80-68b (104,9 centners per hectare); one mid-pipening form with late blossom, V self pol. (06.04) and a yeld of 94,9 centners per hectare. We selected also 5 forms with early blossom beginning and sustainable yeld: D ½ Y 84-2892 (83,5 centners per hectare), L ½ Z 73-6 (115 centners per hectare), PK open pol. ½ T 85-104 (150,9 centners per hectare), R open pol. 59-14 (79,3 centners per hectare), T ½ К III 2/5 (71,9 centners per hectare).
