Clinical-hematological aspects of rabbit psoroptosis

Psoroptosis of rabbits is an invasive disease caused by parasitism on the inner surface of the auricle of the mites Psoroptes cuniculi, which are widespread among rabbits of the Stavropol Territory (64%). In case of complication of the second microflora, this disease often ends in the death of the animal, although the laboratory description of hematological parameters is not described. The experiment involved 40 animals of 2-3 years of age of different breeds. The rabbits were divided into 4 groups of 10 animals each. The experimental animals were diagnosed with psoroptosis on the basis of clinical symptoms and microscopic studies of crusts and scrapings from the auricles. The blood was collected by the method of heart puncture and examined on the analyzer "Mific 18 Vet" of the company "Orphee S. A." (Switzerland). As a result, it was revealed that in the second (prepatent) period, the number of red blood cells decreases to 5.42 10½12/l (by 19%) and hemoglobin to 10.96 g/dl (by 25%) , and the number of lymphocytes increases to 61.62 10½9/l (by 35%), monocytes to 8 10½9/l (by 75%),neutrophils to 49,3 10½9/l (by 33%) and eosinophils to 1 10½9/l (by 100%). In the third period complicated by pyogenic microflora, there was a decrease in the number of red blood cells to 4.4 10½12/l (which is 38% less than in the group of healthy animals), hemoglobin to 8.82 g/dl (by 40%) and an increase in the number of lymphocytes to 79.7 10½9/l (by 43%), eosinophils to 5 10½9/l (by 500%), neutrophils to 63.7 10½9 / l (by 48%) and monocytes to 15.4 10½9 / l (by 87%).
