Analytical quality control treatment of maize seeds with fungicides, containing mefenoxam and metalaxyl

Studies were conducted to develop a laboratory method for assessing the quality of pre-sowing treatment of maize seeds with preparations based on mefenoxam and metalaxyl. The conditions for the extraction of active substances from the etched seeds have been worked out. The most complete extraction of fungicidal components occurs when using acetone. The optimal duration of the exposure of seed samples was selected for different methods of extracting active substances. It was found that the most complete extraction of fungicides occurs when seeds are treated 2 times with ultrasound or shaken in a mechanical shaker. A laboratory test of the method for determining mefenoxam and metalaxyl in etched maize seeds was carried out. The inspection showed that the results of the analytical control correspond to the actual consumption of the protectants. Based on the results of the conducted studies, a method for determining the completeness of the etching of maize seeds with preparations based on mefenoxam and metalaxyl using gas-liquid chromatography was developed. Quantitative analysis and identification of active substances is carried out according to standard samples of fungicides. The completeness of seed treatment is calculated for 1 ton of seed material.
