Domestic sugar beet selection and seed production current state, problems and prospects

The article presents the results of the domestic sugar beet selection and seed production current state analysis. The main problems of the industry functioning are revealed, including the underprovision of scientific and breeding organizations with modern material and technical base and instrumentation and analytical equipment; insufficient state funding for R & D in the selection and seed production of sugar beet; the lack of a unified management system for selection, seed production, refinement and sale of sugar beet seeds. The priority directions of the industry development are defined.
