Analysis of wellness measures effectiveness in relation to cattle leukemia

Despite the wide popularity and knowledge, bovine leukemia remains an urgent problem for the livestock industry and veterinary medicine. Huge costs for diagnostics and prevention, financial losses in productivity, culling and forced slaughter of expensive animals - all this makes it necessary to carry out a complex of effective health measures and the complete elimination of this pathology. In recent years, the scientific base of research has grown, there is an understanding of how to properly plan and organize anti-epizootic and preventive measures, which will allow, depending on the degree of leukemia in the herd of cattle, to qualitatively evaluate the health improvement measures taken. The purpose of this work was to study the experience of improving the dysfunctional dairy complex from leukemia in cattle. Epizootological, clinical, statistical, serological, hematological and pathomorphological methods were used in the studies. The research period is from 2014 to 2020. on the livestock of Holstein cattle in a leukemic farm in the Krasnodar Territory. In 2014, the leukemia virus infection in the herd was 13% of the total herd. In 2015, 104 animals out of 1472 were positive for the disease, and in 2019 only 25 animals out of the total population of 1381 heads. In 2020, not a single animal with the causative agent of the disease was identified. As a result, all the methods of rehabilitation in relation to bovine leukemia in this farm, which included systematic diagnostic studies of the entire herd, culling of positively reacting animals and organizational and technological methods of separate keeping of the livestock, turned out to be effective.
