Theoretical aspects of ensuring food security in Russia

The article is devoted to the problem of ensuring food security of the Russian Federation. It is noted that food security is the most important component of economic security, which is due to its impact on economic growth, GDP, meeting the needs of the population, stimulating and optimizing the country's trade and balance of payments. It is highlighted that today a significant number of external and internal factors have a negative impact on the country's food supply. The paper presents the key threats to food security of the Russian Federation. The scale of this problem is explained on the basis of official statistics. The study proposes key areas for increasing the level of food security of the country, such as: increasing the efficiency of the agro-industrial complex, intensifying import substitution, switching to an investment and innovative model of agricultural development, using targeted food assistance to socially vulnerable segments of the population.
