Assessment of the level of food security in the Krasnodar Territory

The article is devoted to the food security level assessing in the Krasnodar Territory, which, due to its geographical position and natural and climatic conditions, is one of the most favorable regions for the development of agriculture. The economic content of the comprehensive category “food security” is disclosed. A comparative analysis of various food security level assessing methods was carried out and the choice of the most suitable methodological approach for solving regional problems based on the aggregation of the main criteria into groups with the aim of their multi-level differentiation was substantiated. The socio-economic situation of the Krasnodar Territory was assessed in terms of its agricultural intensity and ensuring the level of food security, the dynamics of the volume of agricultural production in the context of farm categories was analyzed. The high importance of the system of food security state regulation and maintaining it at the proper level was noted. Measures aimed at strengthening the position of the region in the context of ensuring food security are proposed. An assessment is made of the food physical and economic affordability, consumption sufficiency and food quality in the region. As a result of testing the chosen methodological approach, a high level of food security in the Kuban was revealed. The necessity of taking measures to regulate the prices of food basket goods, modernizing machinery and equipment in the agricultural sectors, introducing advanced technologies, and supporting small businesses in the region is substantiated.
