Ecological substantiation of oil flax zonal seed breeding

The article highlights the current state and environmental justification of oil flax seed production carried out in four stages: 1) Collection of data on the yield and seed quality of the most important oilseeds’ plants, essential oils’ plants, vegetables and medicinal plants. The regional branches of the “Rosselkhoztsentr” provided us with such data in a special form for years 2013-2017. 2) Primary processing of materials: data on the yield and seed quality of the studied plants in individual regions, territories, republics. 3) Development of a methodology for establishing yield types depending on soil-climatic, biological and anthropogenic factors. 4) Application of types of seed yield on the contour maps of the studied administrative entities with the allocation of optimal zones of seed production. To determine the optimal zones of seed production, a special technique has been developed, the basis of which is establishing four types of seed yield within individual administrative entities: 1) high yield with high sowing properties of seeds; 2) high yield with low sowing properties of seeds; 3) low yield with high sowing properties of seeds; 4) low yield with low sowing properties of seeds. Each of these yield types is formed in certain soil and climatic conditions. As a result of research on oilseed flax in the Voronezh region, four types of crops were established with their territorial localization. Oil flax seed production should be concentrated in the zones of optimal seed production (type I crop). In areas of permissible seed production (III type of crop) it is necessary to carry out measures to increase productivity. In the second and fourth yield types, seed production is not expedient.
