Characteristics and use of Alpine and subalpine pastures in the mountainous regions of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic for breeding Aberdeen-Angus cattle

Natural Alpine and subalpine pastures in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic are widely used for grazing Aberdeen-Angus beef cattle. Breeding farm, OOO "Rassvet-N" uses of the Alpine and subalpine natural grasslands, located in the tract of "Khaymash" in a variety of vertical zonation. Pastures with abundant grasses are used all year round. The Botanical composition of the herbage includes cereals, legumes, as well as sedges, herbs, sometimes there are poisonous herbs. The analysis of grass composition in the context of vertical zoning from the height of 1200 m to 2100 m above sea level has been conducted. In the composition of the herbage there are medicinal herbs, eaten, not eaten and poisonous herbs. The long-term use of Alpine and subalpine pastures allows the farm to reduce the cost of"marble" beef production from Aberdeen-Angus cattle at the expense of pastures.
