Development trends and factors of efficiency in the production of organic agriculture in Russia

The article analyzes the current state and trends in the development of organic agriculture in the world, including the size of land occupied by organic production, its volume and structure, identifies and substantiates the prerequisites for the formation and development of this promising segment of the food market. The authors of the article identified, substantiated and systematized the factors that primarily determined the efficiency of the production of organic agricultural products, including the factors of the economic, organizational, technological and natural-biological groups. It is noted that at present in Russia the prices for products of organic agriculture are many times higher than the prices for crop and livestock products produced using traditional technologies, which with a low level of real incomes of the population in many respects hinders the development of this promising segment of agricultural economy in the country. It has been proved that the development of the domestic market for organic products in Russia requires the formation of legislation regulating all stages of organic production and ensuring the quality and safety of end products for consumers. The competitive advantages of our country in the production of products of organic agriculture with the further increase of its export potential are identified and justified. It has been established that the increase in organic production in the country requires the improvement of the system of state support for commodity producers, including the determination of its most effective areas, justification of targeting and increase in size.
