Preservation of the identity of the far eastern varieties of cucumber during seed production

Olericulture in Middle Priamurye is based on cucumber varieties of the Far Eastern selection only, because all varieties created in other regions to a large extent suffer and often die from peronosporosis in the early fruiting. Only Far Eastern cucumber is resistant. That is why it is necessary to create local far eastern varieties as well as to develop variety seed breeding. Varietal characteristics of seeds in the process of reproduction, under the influence of environmental factors, may lose value if not conduct active seedage. The main task of seed breeding is preservation of varieties identity, maintenance of the entire set of biological and economically valuable traits that were inherent in them initially. A new cucumber variety Amurchonok was included in State Register of Selection Achievements of Russian Federation in 2014. Studies have shown that the variety population has not a uniform composition and consists of biotypes which are different on the length and the form of seed fruit. When reproducing, the correlation of biotypes can be changed depending on initial biotypes and hydrothermal conditions. The purpose of our research is to develop a scientifically founded the primary methodology of the seed of cucumber variety population of Amurchonok. Conducted research has allowed us to develop and recommend a methodology of elite seed production, based on the biotypic selection, which allows to save cucumber varieties of Far Eastern breeding during reproduction in the same form in which they were made by breeders.
