Biological basis of seed harvesting aromatic and medicinal plants

In several aromatic and medicinal plants revealed that the most objective parameters to assess ripeness and determine the best timing and methods of harvesting of seed crops is the dynamics of the moisture content of vegetative organs, fruits and seeds and the accumulation of substances by means of photosynthesis and the process of reutilization. The most appropriate is a separate method of harvesting for each species and variety is determined by the optimum moisture content of vegetative organs and seeds for beveling rolls and their thrashing. Intensive accumulation of dry matter in the seeds occurs before mid-wax ripeness, when their humidity is about 30%. This figure should serve as a guide for mowing plants in the rolls. The moisture content of the vegetative mass is in the range from 50% to 60%. Threshing produces desiccation of the vegetative mass and seed to 12-14%.
